Feb 15 to 20 Engagement Party & trip to Banha

We attended an engagement party with our Nile River Branch President, President Marcous, this past week. The couple come from poor, Christian families and had what the branch president called a "minimal" party. It was in an alley and the music was loud enough that I had to put my mouth on Kathleen's ear to have her hear anything. The groom to be is an inactive member and the site was about 1 hour away. Our branch president wanted someone to accompany him. We also traveled to Banha this week to visit a friend of the church, Yousif Matry. He has attended church 3-4 times across the last couple of months. He is on the right side of this picture. The person in the middle of the picture is David Adel, who is also a friend of the church and attends all of the time. Both of them are 26 years old and speak excellent English. Feb 9 to 13 2025 Trip to Alexandria

Sister Mariam Hanna helped Kathleen prepare an Egyptian food for her and our families. It is called Koshari and was originally used to feed troops, as it is high in carbs. It tasted very good and we had so much left over we used it for the next day when we had three others eating with us and Kathleen made soup from the remaining. We find interesting signs everywhere. Here the cooking just fell asleep. We traveled to Alexandria with the Phillips this week to view a project and had the opportunity to have lunch with Tom, who is only one of two active members we have in Alexandria. Sadly, he makes the equivalent of only $80 USD each month, but is a wonderful man. As in most countries, the minorities and refugees are taken advantage of. This is the inside of the Alexandria public library. Many centuries ago Alexandria had the largest library in the world, but much of the texts were destroyed in 48 AD and in the 4th century.
