Feb 15 to 20 Engagement Party & trip to Banha
We attended an engagement party with our Nile River Branch President, President Marcous, this past week. The couple come from poor, Christian families and had what the branch president called a "minimal" party. It was in an alley and the music was loud enough that I had to put my mouth on Kathleen's ear to have her hear anything. The groom to be is an inactive member and the site was about 1 hour away. Our branch president wanted someone to accompany him.
We also traveled to Banha this week to visit a friend of the church, Yousif Matry. He has attended church 3-4 times across the last couple of months. He is on the right side of this picture. The person in the middle of the picture is David Adel, who is also a friend of the church and attends all of the time. Both of them are 26 years old and speak excellent English. However, both are struggling a bit in what they want in life.
This is where we ate. They had a small kitchen and no dining area. This was Yousif's grandfather's apartment, who was a local judge and attorney. As you can see, they are Coptic Christians. They had another apartment in another area of the city, but it was under renovation.
This is Yousif's mother, who does not speak English. She seems like a wonderful person and fixed all the food for us.
