Simmon's visit Sept 17-22, 2025, Nutrition class, end of Resala English class

We had the opportunity to have Cal and Cyndy Simmons visit Egypt. They are assistant auditors and came to audit and teach the branches how better to do their finances. It was good to have them. We also went with them on Thursday and Sunday visiting sites. Cyndy was sick on Sunday, so we do not have a picture of her.

Sunday we went with Cal to many of the Coptic sites near Cairo. Most were initially constructed over 1,000 years ago. The sign on the left was interesting, as we were entering the area where Jesus as a baby supposedly stayed for 3 months.
This is one of the Coptic sites' cathedrals.

This is in the Citadel, which is the Islamic mosque that Salah Din constructed when he ruled Egypt.
This is the inside of the mosque looking at its ceiling.
This is a church the Coptics created when they were forced out of their homes. About 10,000 people can be seated in the audience. It is in the very poor area of Mokattam, which is also known as garbage city. You could smell the garbage in the air here still.

Kathleen and I at the front of the church above.
Another church created in the caves. This was to be used as a non-denominational church.
Many scriptures and statues/ scenes are carved in the walls.

Cal, Steve & Kathleen at the Citadel.
This is an interesting photo of the mosque at the citadel. They have cut the word "Allah" in Arabic on the bushes.

This is a Coptic map that shows where Jesus lived as a baby for the 3 years he was supposed to have been in Egypt. I am certain that they know this because Jesus' parents put up signs every where they lived.

This is the release of President Marcous. He had served as the Nile River Branch for almost 5 years. Giurgis, Laila, Kathleen, Steve, Baseem's daughter, Maged, President Marcous, Fareed, Magdi, and Amir. Many were not members of the church.

This is one of the projects we worked with to install a generator. They are the only hospice in Egypt.

We had a nutrition class taught by a PA and Baseem translated. At the end we had about 25 people attend and they ate through 9 boxes of pizza in about 5 minutes.

This is the end of our Resala English class. We started with 25 and yesterday had only 5, so we said that was our last class.  We had planned to do 8 classes, but ended at 6. We may teach again, but will need to see.

The last 2 guys from the class with me.

The last 3 girls with Kathleen. As it is obvious they are all Muslims.
