April 2025 Includes Couples' Conference in Amman, Jordan

We had the annual service missionaries couples' conference in Amman, Jordan. Actually, we traveled quite a bit of Jordan and went to Mt Nebo, the Dead Sea, the Jordan River, Wadi Rum, and Petra. On the left is a picture of Wadi Rum that reminded me a lot of Moab, Utah.
Here are some of the burial sites at Petra. This is called the monastery and it is located high on a tall hill. To reach it people need to walk up over 800 steps (some just carved into sandstone). At the end of the day I had walked over 22,000 steps and climbed 77 stories. Kathleen did a more leisurely tour.
This is a picture of the sunrise at Wadi Rum.

Steve & Kathleen at the Jordan River. The area that can be seen across the river is Israel. We could not cross but could see Orthodox Jews there celebrating some event.

Kathleen and Steve again at the Jordan River.

This is the shelter we stayed in at Wadi Rum.
These are the ruins of an old Roman temple near Amman, Jordan.
This is part of the hike up to the monastery. There was the option of riding a mule, but that looked quite dangerous.
We had instruction from our Area President, Elder Perkins on Wednesday.
This is a water channel carved along the path to Petra. If you look close you can see the bottom of the pottery pipes that were used. This extended for a mile or more.

Another burial site at Petra.
This is looking down at the large amphitheater in Petra. It is very big. Note the people in front of it.
Kathleen and Steve at Mount Nebo. This is located in Moab and was the supposed burial site of Moses.
This is a map of our Area. We encompass many countries.
This is a view from Mount Nebo to Jericho, which is the oldest continuously populated city.

Our last dinner together in Jordan at a original Jordanian restaurant. We ate too much each night and it was rather late. Good to get back and eat at a more reasonable time.

We went to a hotel on the Dead Sea to experience it. Had lunch there afterwards.

Steve in the middle of the picture with the hat on in the Dead Sea. It has 34% salinity and it was very difficult to move in.
