Jan 12 to 17 Al Maadi

Here are a few random items over this past week. Above is some of the Arabic I am trying to learn. It is a very difficult language and I am learning very slowly.

This is the main hall of the "Gathering Center" that we will be organizing and operating starting in 2 weeks. This will be a resource center for our poorer members and we will teach English, piano, cooking, and other skills here. We had a meeting to talk about the class priorities with the members and, of course, had to eat afterwards.
Kathleen paid the final rent on our old apartment. It was 52,000 Egyptian pounds for 2 months. The new couple, the Phillips, will take occupancy of it tomorrow when they arrive and then they can determine if they want to find a new apartment.
Our dear friend, Daniella, who is 9 years old made these for us and a note to both of us. We had their family here last night (Thursday) and after piano and English lessons. She and her sister helped cook pancakes with chocolate chips in them.
Today, January 17th, we the baptism of 5 more people in our Nile River (Arabic) branch. All were Egyptians this time. We also had a very educated Egyptian come to our English services today. He stated that a man had approached him on the street and told him about our church. He looked us up online and decided to come and investigate. He has a degree in mechanical engineering and will be 41 in May. He promised to return next week.
We had 3 young girls in the Arabic branch help lead the music today. They were very cute.
Here is the group after the baptism. Most are from the Nile River Branch, but a few of the Cairo Branch also attended the baptism.
This gentleman is a healthcare middleman, who wanted a copy of my strategy book. I am not totally certain what he is planning, but he may be setting something up for me to participate in.
This is Daniella and her mother. We have become Daniella's adopted grandparents.
